Trapped in a Smile poignantly captures the artist’s experience with Complex Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (CPTSD) and Borderline Personality Disorder (BPD). The artwork features a smiley face balloon merging with the artist's form inside a reflective disco ball, symbolizing the tension between outward expressions of joy and the internal emotional constraints imposed by trauma. The smiley face balloon, a symbol of societal happiness, contrasts sharply with the artist's feelings of emotional confinement, while the disco ball’s fragmented mirrors represent the fragmented nature of identity and the ongoing dance of healing under external expectations.

The piece is brought to life with UV-reactive acrylic paint and holographic glitter, creating an immersive experience under specific lighting. The glowing colors reflect the emotional intensity and unpredictability of BPD, while the shimmering glitter symbolizes fleeting moments of joy amidst adversity. Trapped in a Smile serves as both a personal narrative and a universal commentary on the pressures of masking inner turmoil. It invites viewers to empathize with the struggles of mental health and challenges societal expectations, fostering dialogue on emotional resilience and authenticity in the face of stigma.

Mixed Media Installation
Limbo is an ongoing installation that represents the artist’s emotional and psychological journey through the nine circles of hell. Currently in development, this piece will feature a large book filled with sketches and drawings, documenting the evolution of the painting over the span of six months. The book itself will be designed to resemble a crime scene map, with strings connecting sketches and ideas, visually mapping the artist’s journey through personal struggles and existential challenges.
Each page will serve as a snapshot of the artist’s internal world during this period, with the evolving sketches offering glimpses into the complex layers of emotions, decisions, and reflections encountered on the path toward healing. The concept of Limbo explores the sensation of being trapped between states of existence and non-existence, using the metaphor of Dante's "nine circles" to symbolize various struggles, from addiction and trauma to personal rebirth.
The sketches show the tension between hopelessness and perseverance, capturing fragmented thoughts and moments of clarity. As viewers engage with these initial stages, they are invited to witness the process of creation—how an idea transforms into something tangible, evolving through raw emotion and reflection. The intricate design and use of string will create a visual map, inviting viewers to interact with the piece and follow the artist’s journey through each "circle" of their internal battles.
This evolving piece emphasizes the therapeutic nature of art and the catharsis that comes with externalizing personal pain. The Limbo installation will not only represent a physical manifestation of the artist’s healing process but also challenge viewers to reflect on their own experiences with uncertainty, personal growth, and the concept of liminality in their own lives.
